Prayer of Thanksgiving

A Facebook friend posted the following prayer he'd found in his father's prayer book, and I thought I would share it with you.

PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING

Throughout life, Lord, I’ve been taught to look out for myself. Sometimes I forget that You have been looking out for me all along. You have given me so many talents and gifts, Lord. Everything I am and everything I hope to become is a gift from You. Sometimes I forget, and I take You for granted.

Well, today, I’d just like to pause for a moment and say thanks for all the countless ways in which I’ve been blessed. Thanks for the miracle of my birth and for the shelter and food which sustain me. Thanks for my family and all those people who support me. Thanks for the faith You’ve placed in my heart and for all those with whom I share the richness of that faith. Perhaps the greatest way to say thanks is to live the life You’ve given me to its fullest extent. May my every breath be a prayer of thanks.
